Facilitation is a skill/process that enhances
the progress of any management meeting in way that could be
likened to conducting a symphony orchestra. In order to achieve
the best result for the business, the meeting needs to hear
the input of each constituent member, but without a skilled
conductor (facilitator), the efforts of the players can quickly
deteriorate into a cacophony of noise, hidden agendas and
process 'cycling'
The facilitator uses experience, intuition,
process and objectivity to bring out the best in all participants,
to provide a structure for the proceedings, to break deadlocks
and cycling, and to guide the group to arrive at an outcome
that is harmonious and productive for all.
Benefits from using a skilled external facilitator
are visible at all levels. The organisation benefits from
a motivated team of managers, able to reach decisions more
quickly and develop and communicate strategies that are fully
deliverable. The management team gains greater cohesion, energy
and understanding, while its individual members gain new self-awareness
and skills for improving their own performance within the
organisation. |
